Vancouver Island University หรือ VIU เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐบาล  ก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 1969  ในชื่อ Malaspina College ตั้งอยู่ที่เมือง Nanaimo ทางตอนเหนือของเมืองวิคตอเรีย และใช้เวลาเดินทางจากแวนคูเวอร์ไปยังเมืองนาไนโม่ทางเครื่องบินเพียง 15 นาทีเท่านั้น ปัจจุบันมีทั้ง 4 campuses ได้แก่ Cowichan Campus, Nanaimo Campus, Parksville/Qualicum Centre และ Powell River Campus

English as a Second Language (ESL)

คอร์สเรียนภาษาในมหาวิทยาลัย  แบ่งได้ทั้งหมด 5 Levels  ( 13 สัปดาห์/ 1 level & 20 ชั่วโมง/สัปดาห์)  Level ที่เริ่มเรียนจะขึ้นอยู่ผล Test  โดยเปิดเรียนปีละ 3 ครั้งคือ  กันยายน / มกราคม / เมษายน
